EVP Tape Recorder captures uncompressed WAV audio while emulating the sound and behaviour of classic tape machines. Optional tape effects introduce realism over time — wear builds, drift creeps in, and the noise floor becomes part of the recording, just like real tape.

Playback isn’t simply “digitally reversed.”
Forward and reverse playback behave physically, with variable speed, pitch-corrected audio, looping, and scrubbing. Tape wear continues during playback, meaning each listen subtly changes the recording.

For those who wish deeper realism, the application can optionally use your device’s magnetometer. Changes in the surrounding magnetic field subtly influence tape behaviour, introducing natural instability.
